Finally... Set Your Default iOS Email App

It has been a long time coming, but finally Apple has brought the ability for users to set their default mail app on iOS to mail clients other than the Apple Mail App. The change was brought in in iOS 14 and is great news for many business users who tend to want to use either Outlook for iOS or Gmail.

With Microsoft stating that they have over 120 million mail users on their Office365 platform, it will be welcome news for a lot of people.

So, how do you do it? Firstly, you need to make sure your Apple device is running iOS 14, and you need to ensure that your Outlook app is up to date.

Once that is done, head-on over to the [Settings] app and scroll down and choose [Outlook].

Next, tap on the [Default Mail App]

Next, tap on [outlook] to change the default mail app to Outlook

That’s it, your done! Going forward, Outlook will work as the default mail app on your iOS device, this all email links will directly open this app.

If you ever change your mind and wish to go back to using the Apple Mail App again, just go back to the same setting and then chose [Mail].

As someone who uses Outlook heavily on both my iPhone and iPad, I for one am delighted that I can now do this.
